The experience of anxiety is not static; as we physically and mentally mature, so too will our perception and experience of anxiety. For example, stress that was once related to achieving a certain GPA or assimilating into a particular peer group in grade school may now be related to achieving career goals, maintaining a healthy long-term relationship, and/or raising emotionally healthy children. As we mature, the gravity of our responsibilities changes (e.g., arguing with a friend as a child versus arguing with your boss as an adult and potentially losing your job), but the perception of stress may be as equally devastating.

Since your experience of anxiety is different from anyone else, my approach will be tailored to meet your individual needs. In a safe and collaborative environment, we will address your particular symptoms, explore together and test new approaches to manage your anxiety. Together, we will make sure you have the tools you need to work through your specific anxiety symptoms and move forward fully engaged, confident, and ready to tackle new challenges.
We will use the following interventions (and more) in our sessions together:
My objective is to provide you simple, yet powerful anxiety management techniques for your "personal wellness toolkit" from which you can draw upon for the rest of your life. Such tools will enable you to manage most situations, no matter how stressful they may seem. Ultimately, we will work together to help you regain control of your life.
This is one of the most common questions I receive. Each client is different, and thus there is no standard answer—one size does not fit all. However, I have seen clients feel better after the first session as they were able to articulate their thoughts and feelings in a safe place and establish hope for future relief. Other clients take longer, as there may be co-occurring conditions, conflicting personality dynamics, and/or other life events that deepen the therapy. In general, many clients experience the needed benefits between 4 and 6 sessions (one session per week.) Certain conditions such as PTSD or combined symptoms of anxiety and depression may require additional sessions. Our initial intake session will help us determine the best treatment plan for you.
I am a fee-for-service provider which means that you pay with check/cash/credit card at each session. I am only an in-network provider with TRICARE. However, if you carry other insurances, you still may be reimbursed by your insurance provider. I am an out- of- network provider for United Health Care, Aetna, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. These companies will typically reimburse you a portion of your therapy session, sometimes up to 80%. I am happy to provide you with an invoice to help facilitate reimbursement from your insurance company.
